Our partner school Expanish is located in the neighborhood of Eixample in Barcelona. The area is full of incredible restaurants and within walking distance of Sagrada Familia and a short ride to the beach. The school is located in a stunning, historic building. The building offers bright classrooms, flooded with natural light and meticulously crafted to optimize students' learning experiences. The communal areas are designed to foster interaction and collaboration among students. The school building offers two floors, one of which is exclusive for 30+ students. It includes dedicated reception and common areas, with all facilities tailored to the unique educational needs of the more mature students. Landmarks such as Casa Battló and Casa Milà are nearby.

Social programme

Expanish has a variety of different activities every week so that you can practice the language outside of the classroom, get in touch with your international fellow students and to immerse yourself into the city and culture on site. Every week there are at least 4 free activities, and the activities are divided into 4 categories: Academic, Cultural and Recreational, Social, and Welcome Activities.

The school also organizes excursions on the weekends, for which apply additional fees, that allow students to travel with their classmates to explore the destinations outside of the city. Spain is a diverse country and has many unique cultural destinations and natural attractions to see apart from in Barcelona. Examples for excursions are Girona, Montserrat, and Sitges, among others. Students sign up and pay for excursions after arrival.

New Year programme Salerno

Intensive course

The intensive course consists of either 20 or 30 lessons per week. During the intensive course students will develop the key language skills in an interactive group.

With the intensive course of 30 lessons per week, students will have an additional 2 group lessons each day in order to review and practice their communication skills.

Students aged 30+ can join the intensive 30+ course.

In 2025, there will also be the option of 24 lessons per week. The course structure will look like this from 2025:

20 lessons per week: 16 lessons of general Spanish, 2 project sessions, 2 Spanish in action lessons
24 lessons per week: 16 lessons of general Spanish, 2 project sessions, 2 Spanish in action lessons, 4 lessons of Spanish in the city
30 lessons per week: 20 lessons of general Spanish, 2 conversation lessons, 2 project sessions, 2 lessons of Spanish in action, 4 lessons of Spanish in the city

Project sessions: applied project in the classroom aimed to practically apply knowledge through teamwork. Examples include: creating a tourist guide for a city, creating and presenting a debate, holding a trivia contest about the Hispanic world.

Spanish in action: immersive experience outside the classroom (in a store, market, bakery...) to put in practice the language in a real-life setting. The activities are adjusted to your the level of Spanish of the group you're in.

Spanish in the city: the city sessions and activities are immersive and didactic, featuring visits to neighborhoods, museums, historic centers, etc. The aim is to educate students on the city's cultural, historical, and artistic dimensions, as well as its traditions and social customs. The curriculum covers literature, architecture, gastronomy, politics, and sports.

Minimum age is 16 years.

Combined

Students looking to learn Spanish with some additional personalized assistance should consider the combined course. The combined course consists of 20 group lessons + 4 or 10 private lessons per week. With the addition of individual lessons, students have an opportunity to explore in more depth the themes and topics discussed in group classes. The teacher can focus on the areas in which the student needs more attention and cover additional content.
