Learn English in Bristol at our partner school, The English Language Centre. Established in 1969, ELC is a family run language school located in two fine historical buildings close to the University in Clifton. Each of the school’s 20 teachers is a native English speaker, has a university degree and considerable experience in teaching English as a foreign language.

With the intensive course of 28 lessons per week you have 20 lesson per week in the morning. Additionally you will have lessons on four afternoons a week. The afternoon lessons can consist of culture, conversation or business English. If you have a lower level the lessons in the afternoon focus on improving fluency and vocabulary, writing and listening skills.
Minimum age is 16 years.
This is a combination course consisting of an intensive course in the morning and private lessons (one-to-one teaching) in the afternoon (5 lessons per week). This course is ideal for students who want to improve their general spoken English while focusing on an area of particular interest. You may want to improve your English at work, your secretarial skills in English, learn how to write letters, know more about e-commerce, or just develop excellent social skills.
Minimum age is 16 years.
Preparation course for First Certificate, Advanced Certificate or Cambridge Proficiency. The course includes general English lessons and specific lessons for exam preparation divided over 4 afternoons per week.
Nevertheless, Cambridge English exam preparation courses are not 'closed', which means that students can join the course at a later date if they are not able to attend for the full period. Please contact us if you wish to take a course shorter than required amount of weeks. Minimum period of enrolment: 4 weeks.

The IELTS course has a minimum duration of 4 weeks and prepares you for the IELTS exam, which is specifically interesting for students planning to study in English in Further Education either in the UK or in their own countries. Students should be at least at Upper-Intermediate (B2) level before joining the IELTS classes. Please note that this course is designed for the Academic IELTS training and not the General training. The course consists of 28 lessons per week (21 real clock hours). Please see more about the IELTS exam here.
