The Torquay International School (TIS) is located just a few minutes on foot from Torquay town centre and is surrounded by large gardens and a volley ball court. The school was founded in 1972.

Social Programme

The school organizes a social programme designed to help put you in contact with other students and widen your experience of different nationalities and customs. The cost of the programme is not included in your course but usually there are also a few free activities you can join such as:   

  • Monday afternoon guided walk on your first day
  • Films at school
  • Sightseeing trips
  • Sports

There are many things to do such as playing golf in the area. Excursions in weekends are also offered regularly, for example to Exeter, Port of Topsham, Dartmoor National Park, etc.

Minigroup 30+

English for the over 30´s: this course is designed for more mature students and professionals wanting to improve the English language in a more intensive setting with a maximum of 4 students per class. It consists of 15, 19, 23 or 30 lessons per week.

During this course, great emphasis is placed on developing all aspects of communication. You will study all four skill areas, underpinned by grammar and pronunciation.

Minimum age is 30 years.

Combined Minigroup 30+

English for the over 30´s: this course combines the Minigroup 30+ course, which consists of 15 lessons in the morning in a small group with a maximum of 4 students per group with 5 private lessons in the afternoon.

Minimum age is 30 years.
