The school has two dedicated junior centres, the Springfield junior centre and the Angel Hill junior centre, each with its own charm.  
The Springfield junior cenre is in a large Victorian villa in a quiet residential part of the city. It has 8 classrooms, a break-out room, a small kitchen and a spacious garden with areas for students to relax between lesssons. Within 5 minutes walk there is a leisure centre with swimming pool, gym and a wide range or sporting activities are possible.
The Angel Hill Junior Centre is within the heart of the historic centre and has a total of 4 classrooms. The famous Abbey Gardens are only moments away and it is here that students can enjoy their break and lunch with stunning views of the cathedral. 
It is possible to walk between both junior centres in approx. 15 minutes.

Intensive (10-17 years)

  • Ages: 10-17 years
  • Minimum level: from beginner to advanced
  • Lessons: 28 lessons per week
  • Accommodation: host family in a shared room with full board (breakfast and dinner and a packed lunch)
  • Supervision: students aged 10 - 12: 24 hours supervision per day, curfew at 21:00
    Students aged 13 - 15: supervision during lessons, activities and in accommodation. There is some unsupervised free time. Curfew at 21:00.
    Students aged 16 - 17: supervision during lessons, activities and in accommodation. There is some unsupervised free time. Curfew at 22:00.

This course combines intensive English with cultural activities, sports, social events and excursions to world famous cities such as London or Cambridge. 
 
The English course for juniors consists of 28 lessons per week (1 lesson = 45 minutes) and covers all of the main skills of Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening as well as grammas and vocabulary with a focus on communication. During the course students will use modern and up to date course materials and resources. This program ensures steady progress by giving students every day homework to guide self study and students will have the opportunity to join a daily supervised homework sessions where students can catch up and work on their material with the opportunity to ask questions.

To make your stay packed full of fun, the school organises a varied, supervised, weekly activity program.

There are two evening activities arranged and supervised by BLS staff each week of the summer program. These include teenager disco, British food tasting evenings, team games, bowling, film evening, Laser Quest and much more. Sport activities will also take place every week at a modern local leisure centre or in the beautiful Abbey Gardens. Furthermore a weekly half day excursion to towns and cities around Bury St. Edmunds, such as Ipswich, Cambridge and Newsmarkets as well as places of local interest will be organised. Host Family

The accommodation in a host family is a great way to immerse yourself into English language and culture and get to know everyday life in England, which makes it an even more effective way of improving your English skills.  You will be accommodated in carefully inspected host families, sharing a room with another student of the same gender and another nationality. Some hosts can accommodate more students at the same time. The maximum number of students sharing a host family at the same time is four. You will receive three meals per day (a packed lunch by the host from Monday to Saturday) and the host will provide towels, bedding and a weekly laundry service. 

Students will be either walking to school (max. 30 minutes) or driven both to and from school (usually for the younger ones).
