Language course Chinese in Beijing

LTL Live the Language

Located in the centre of Beijing’s Central Business District, our partner school LTL (Live the Language) is situated in a very lively area, with hundreds of restaurants, shops and bars within a few minutes walking distance. With the next subway station (Da Wang Lu, where lines 1 and 14 meet) less than 500 meter from the school, the Forbidden City, 798 Art District or the Sanlitun nightlife district are just a few subway stops away. Yet the school itself is located in a very quiet and green development, with a gym & swimming pool, public basketball court and a lot of trees inside the compound. The school has a very “family-style” feeling, where teachers and students eat lunch together often go for dinner after class and there is always someone around in the sofa area to either have a chat or help with your homework.

Important features of our partner Chinese school in Beijing:

  • 11 class rooms

Social activities:

There are a lot of school activities, both organized by the student support team as well as by students themselves, as this school has a very active social community. At the welcome breakfast, the new student lunch and welcome dinner, during the first week on all beginner course starting dates, you will quickly meet other students, make friends and settle into the school. One of the most popular activities is the two day wild wall trip where you hike the untouched “wild” Great Wall of China, stay in a little village next to the wall overnight and get to truly experience China’s history without the tourist crowds.
Other popular weekend activities include:
-    The Beijing Old Town Walking Tour
-    798 Art District
-    The Forbidden City & Tiananmen Square
-    The Summer Palace
-    The Olympic Area
-    Chinese puppet or acrobat shows

During the week, the most popular activities are school dinners, after school drinks and school karaoke nights.

Host Family

Host Families are available for students of all levels, including complete beginners. You will have your own room, be served delicious home cooked Chinese food for breakfast and dinner (if you book half board) and have the opportunity to practice your Chinese after class every day. To ensure a real Chinese immersion experience, there is never more than one student staying in one family. Families are guaranteed to be no more than 45 minutes transport time away, but most are within walking distance of the school. Your family will either do your laundry for you or you will have access to free laundry facilities and you of course have full access to the kitchen in case you want to use it. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options are available and prices already include free WIFI, air-conditioning and all other bills.

Shared apartment

The language school has several apartments located in different locations in Beijing, usually up to 30 minutes away from the language school. You will stay in a single room and share the apartment with local students or other international students of the language school. You will be accommodated in a small, modern room and share the bathroom with your roommates. The apartments also have a communal kitchen and a common area / living room.

Shared apartment Plus

When you book the “Plus” apartment, you will have a big room (approx. 20 square meters) in a shared apartment with other students, an en-suite bathroom and large bay window.

Budget Apartments

If you would like to save some money regarding the accommodation and if you do not mind a very simple accommodation, the budget apartment is your choice. The budget apartments are located next to the China Media and Communication University, next to China’s old “Grand Canal”. Apartments are shared with local university students or international students from the language school. You will live at approximately 30 minutes travel time away from the school (4 metro stops). You will be accommodated in a small single room and share the bathroom with your flatmates. Furthermore you will have access to the gym and swimming pool that is located in the same building. The main difference from the standard apartment is that the budget apartments do not have a kitchen and no common areas (living room)!

Please also note that the apartments are very affordable, convenient and safe, but are furnished according to local Chinese university student standards, which is usually quite basic.

Studio

Staying in a studio is a private and comfortable living experience. The studios have a private bath and kitchen and are located at approximately 15 minutes by bus to school. You will find many shops and restaurants in the neighborhood. The studios are being cleaned once a week.
