Italian Language Schools in Siena

Learn Italian in the language schools in Siena, a lovely Tuscan city. Siena has a population of approximately 55,000 inhabitants and a UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Like other Tuscan hill towns, Siena was first settled in the time of the Etruscans, when it was inhibited by the Saina tribe. The city did not prosper under Roman rule, as it was not sited near any major roads and therefore missed out on the resulting trade opportunities. This insular status meant that Christianity did not factor until the fourth century AD, and it did not prosper until the Lombards invaded  the surrounding Tuscan territory. Founded in 1203, Siena University is famed for its faculties of medicine and law and is still among the most important Italian universities. Siena was a big rival to Florence in the arts through the 13th and 14th centuries, thanks to the works of the famous Senese artists Duccio di Buoninsegna and Ambrogio Lorenzetti. Today, Siena has maintained much of its culture and history, attracting tourists from all over the world who come to admire the city's majestic building and Gothic artwork. Siena's cathedral, which was built in the 12th century, is a fantastic example of Romanesque architecture. It was intended to be the largest cathedral in existence but after the completion of the transept and the building of the east wall, the rest of the cathedral was abandoned because the money ran out.
