What is the Cambridge exam?

The Cambridge exam is held in 5 levels. By taking a language course of StudyTravel you can prepare yourself for 1 of the 3 highest levels; First Certificate in English (FCE), Certificate in Advanced English (CAE), Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE). These certificates do have a world-wide reputation and offer a good academic and applied classification. Every exam exists of five parts. Every part counts for 20% in final result. The Cambridge exam does not have certain validity, so it will not be expired.

Levels

First Certificate in English (FCE)
For this exam is a good basic knowledge of the English language required (level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). Your vocabulary has to be sufficient for daily situations. You know the difference between formal and informal use of the language. You do have a good knowledge of the language and you would do a good job in administrative work. You will be able to answer the phone and to write standard letters. The FCE is a surplus value for people who want to study at the university (with classes in English) or want to work in a country where English is the language spoken. In addition to the exam is a good preparation for the CAE and CPE exams.

The FCE exam exists of the following parts:
• Receptive reading, 1 hour and 15 minutes
• Writing, 1 hour and 30 minutes
• Grammar and vocabulary, 1 hour and 30 minutes
• Listining, 40 minutes
• Oral skills, 14 minutes

 

Certificate in Advanced English (CAE)
European Framework of Reference for Languages) you can communicate confidentially in English and you can handle daily situation easily. You can express your opinion and have a discussion in English. Your writing skills are good and you can write about every subject you like. You level of English is good enough to be working at a management function or to follow classes with an academic level in English. CAE is a good preparation on your CPE exam and it suites your resume very well!

CAE exam exist of the following parts
• Receptive reading, 1 hour and 15 minutes
• Writing, 2 hours
• Grammar and vocabulary, 1 hour and 30 minutes
• Listining, 45 minutes
• Oral skills, 15 minutes

 

Certificate of proficiency in English (CPE)
CPE is highest level of the Cambridge exam (level C2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). Your English is perfect and you almost pronounce it like a native speaker.

CPE exam exist of the following parts
• Receptive reading, 1 hour and 30 minutes
• Writing, 2 hours
• Grammar and vocabulary, 1 hour and 30 minutes
• Listining, 40 minutes
• Oral skills, 19 minutes

Why doing a Cambridge exam

The English language is getting more important. At a lot of education institutes is English the most important language. For example thesis’s and presentations have to be done in English more and more. The more reason to improve your English, and to focus on an official known diploma. A Cambridge diploma is officially recognised by many universities and employers and improves your CV immediately.

ATTENTION: keep in mind that normally, the dates of the Cambridge exam in our available destinations are the same in each country. Entering each of the links, in the extra notes you will see the dates of the Cambridge exams for each destination and level. There are usually no exams in the month of July. To participate in the course, it is necessary to already have the level of the exam (for example: if you want to do the FCE (B2) it is necessary to have a B2 or equivalent even if it is not accredited and so on) The school will make a pre-test beforehand to ensure that you can participate in the course with the appropriate preparation.
