Our partner school in New York, EC, is situated in an exceptional area, in the heart of Manhattan in the exclusive vibrant area of Times Square, just a few minutes walking distance from some famous breathtaking landmarks and some great shops. Furthermore, Broadway theatres, the famous 5th Avenue and the Empire State Building are among the other exceptional places which are located just a short walk from the the language school. The school just moved into new premises in April 2019 in the Paramount Building. It is a 33-story Art Deco style office building located between West 43rd and 44th Streets in the heart of Times Square, Manhattan, New York City. The school is situated on the 11th floor, above Hard Rock Café.

Intensive

The intensive course consists of 20, 24 or 30 classes per week. You will improve all the aspects of the language such as grammar, vocabulary, writing, listening comprehension etc, everything with a focus on communication.

Commercial English

This course consists of 20 lessons of general English plus 10 lessons of business English per week. During the lessons the emphasis lies on improving communication skills such making telephone calls and meeting techniques as well as creating professional reports, emails and business letters.

TOEFL exam

The TOEFL Exam (Test Of English as a Foreign Language) is acknowledged worldwide by universities and companies as a standard for your compentence and level of the English language. It is a 4- or 8-week course, with 30 classes per week. Classes will be taught in the morning. Usually the exam takes place on the Saturday following the last week of class. Because of the examdate it is imperative that you reserve accommdation until sunday (price for extra night on request).

Host family

The best and only way to truly experience the ‘American way of life’ is to stay with an american family. The time you will need to travel from the hostfamily to the school will not exceed 50 minutes. There are no hostfamilies available within walking distance of the school. Most families live in Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, Bronx, Long Island, Westchester, and New Jersey.

You are allowed to receive phonecalls at the family’s house and you can do your laundry there as well. Towels and linnen will be provided.

Comfort residence

The residence is located in Manhattan, within walking distance of Times Square, Broadway, Madison Square Garden and the Empire State Building. The walking distance to school is approximately 10 minutes.

The rooms have a tv, a dvd-player, internet, a fridge and a bathroom. The common areas (such as kitchens and computer lounges) will be cleaned daily. Every student is responsible for cleaning his or her own room.

Other features:

-There is 24-hour surveillance and a fitness-centre
-Washing machines can be used in exchange for a small fee.

Smoking and the use of alcohol are strictly forbidden in the residence, no matter what the age of the student is. This residence is opened throughout the whole year.

Shared Apartment

The shared apartments are located on world-famous Wall Street in Lower Manhattan. With the Wall Street Subway Station only one street away, students can easily travel to other areas of New York City. The school is only a 20 minute ride by metro away.

The apartments are in a luxury high-rise building and provide high end furnishings in the rooms and extensive amenities within the building. The apartments consist of four bedrooms and has two bathrooms: one is an en-suite bathroom for one of the bedrooms and the other bathroom is shared for the remaining three bedrooms (private bathroom available against a supplement).
