Social Programme

EC organises a varied programme of activities and excursions for students to enjoy in addition to their French course. The school takes into account the cultural calender of the city when organising its activity programme to ensure students can enjoy their free time to the maximum. During the summer months the temperature in Montreal regularly rises to over 30°C, whereas in the winter it can drop below –10°C. Each season brings its own charm and leisure possibilities, including:  

  • Ice hockey games
  • Trips to one of Montreal’s many festivals
  • Excursions to Quebec, Ottawa or Toronto
  • Horse riding
  • Salsa classes

Intensive

The intensive courses in Montreal, consist of 20, 24 or 30 lessons per week. Classes have a maximum of 15 students. Minimum course duration is 1 week. We offer the intensive course at 8 different levels. The entrance test determines your level and the class you will be in. The lessons focus on listening, reading, writing and most importantly speaking.

Students taking 24 or 30 French lessons per week options benefit from more exposure in the classroom, which is extremely valuable. As you engage and absorb more, you will naturally adjust to thinking and communicating in your chosen language. This is a great course for developing fluency. General French 24 and 30 students have access to the following workshops, which are offered on a rotational basis. Some courses have a minimum entry requirement.

Intensive French / English

In the largest bilingual city in the world you have the opportunity to combine two languages ​​during your course. The language school in Montreal offers a unique program of either 24 or 30 lessons. You will have 20 lessons of French and respectively 4 or 10 lessons of English. For a complete immersion both the languages​​, you can choose to either stay with an English or with a French host family. The one-to-one English course in Montreal involves private classes with a native speaker and is designed for those who want to optimise their study time. The aim of this program is to offer a fully personalised method of teaching designed to meet the specific student's needs and desires. Host Family

Host family accommodation is a great way of sharing in the daily life and experiences of an English-speaking family: a great opportunity to immerse yourself in local life of Montreal and practise your English in a friendly and informal atmosphere. Students can stay in a single or twin room with half board. The maximum distance to the school is 60 minutes by public transport.

Executive host family

With an executive family, students can stay in a single room with half board with a private bathroom. The maximum distance to the school is 60 minutes by public transport.

Residence

The 515-residence is located at 10 minutes walking distance from the school and consists of several apartments. You stay in a  single bedroom with no meals. All apartments have a kitchen, a living room, TV, toilet, air conditioning and wireless internet. There are laundry facilities in the residence. The kitchen and showers are shared with other students. Towels and bed linen are changed weekly.

Shared Apartment with locals

The shared apartment with locals is designed for adults students (18+) who want the independence of living on their own, but with the comfort, security and safety of living with locals. You will be accommodated in a single room. Meals are not included and you can use the kitchen to prepare your own meals. The apartments are located an average commute of 40 minutes to school by public transportation. Bed linen will be provided and there will be laundry facilities.
