Granada Spanish courses in Granada. Study in the presence of history and beauty

The beautiful, historic city of Granada in Andalusia is surrounded majestically by the Sierra Nevada mountain range. The city is large but not overly so, with an urban population of approximately 230,000 and a regional population of just over 470,000. Granada has an airport located close by and Malaga airport is 125km away making international transport to and from the city relatively easy. In terms of history, Granada has one of the most important historical structures in the world, the Alhambra Citadel. Originally the Alhambra was a simple structure until 1238 when the founder of the Nasrid Dynasty, Ibn Nasr, fled to Granada to avoid persecution and took up residence in the castle. He ordered the new constructuction of the castle which was undertaken. Apart from varied sieges, the Alhambra has remained largely untouched since and stands proudly in Granada. It is currently a museum, displaying Islamic architecture. The palace of Charles V and Granada Cathedral are further places of interest. The city has the excellent combination of old meeting new, which is perfect to have fun and study Spanish. As well as the historical points of interest and classic architecture described above, Granada has some great bars and nightclubs thanks to its growing student population. The University of Granada is one of the most popular universities in Spain and parts of the city really have that 'young person' feel to them. The city centre has a lot of contemporary shops and there is a modern entertainment centre at the Pedro Antonio de Alacón district. In brief, Granada is a great city where anyone can have a wonderful time and learn Spanish.

Learn Spanish in a spacious and bright school building
Our partner school in Granada, Mester, is situated in a quiet neighbourhood on the edge of the city centre, close to a number of nice shops and restaurants. The school is located in a spacious building with a large patio in the traditional Andalusian style. In addition to 17 spacious classrooms, there is a library, a computer room (with internet connection), a film / party hall and a study. The language institute a professional but relaxed atmosphere where the students develop their language quickly and effeciently. The language teachers are all very friendly and experienced and use the most up-to-date materials and teaching methods. When students have completed their language course they all receive a certificate of achievement.

Social programme
Renowned cities like Seville and Cordoba are alluring destinations for excursions. What's more, our partner school is within 1 ½ hrs of the sandy beaches of the Costa del Sol. And if you are a lover of nature then the Alpujarras sanctuary and the Sierra Nevada (which enjoys favourable ski conditions from December to April) are quite close by! The language school organizes a wide variety of activities at the weekends, which are aimed at enabling students to become better acquainted with their fellow students and more involved with the Spanish culture. You can complete your language course with Intercambios (exchanges), that are also organized by the school, to allow you the opportunity to get in touch with Spanish students. In the course of these meetings, students have a unique opportunity to speak Spanish for a full hour (or longer) and then the next hour is spent speaking the foreign language which the Spanish student wants to practice (usually English).

Impression
Within an hour I was already standing on the ski slope, and that was in March! With plenty of sunshine, gleaming snow and a sociable international group, it was a most unforgettable of days. At the weekend I went on an excursion to Morocco. Who could have imagined such a treat? I certainly saw and did a lot of things in those 8 weeks! What is more, I learned more Spanish during this language course than I would have done back home in an entire academic year!
