Trinidad, Cuba
Spanish courses in Trinidad. History and modernity interlinked

Cuba is a Latin American country situated in the Caribbean Sea and is the largest island in the Caribbean region. The country is the most heavly populated of all Caribbean islands and countries with a population of 11.3 million inhabitants. The country has over 3,700 km of coastline and is the home to some of the most incredible flora and fauna in the world. The region has a tropical climate that is moderated by trade winds, with warm temperatures. The mean temperature for January is 21 degrees, whilst in July it is 27 degrees. There is a drier season from November to April, and a wetter season from May to October. Cuba lies in the path of hurricanes and tropical storms, which are most common in September and October. Cuba is one of the most fascinating and culturally-diverse countries in the world.  Situated in the Caribbean, it is the most populous country in the region, drawing on cultural influences from all over the world, but has a very Spanish and Latin feel and consquently Spanish is the national language of the country. Music and dance are very important parts of life here, with locals singing and dancing long into the night.

Learn Spanish in Trinidad
The captivating town of Trinidad is located in the middle of sugarcane plantations, between the Caribbean ocean and the rugged Sierra del Escambray. Along with Havana, Trinidad is considered to be the architectonic treasure-house of Cuba and is therefore a great place to learn Spanish. However, while Havana evolved into a major commercial centre, Trinidad managed to become “only” a regional centre of commerce. Vestiges of the colonial era are still so present and impressive in this part of the world that UNESCO decided to add Trinidad to its list of world monuments in 1988. No other part of Cuba gives one a better taste of life in the colonial days than Trinidad. Especially in the old town section, one readily imagines himself back in time, where the chugging of cars is absent and all one hears is the traditional click-clack of (horse) hooves on the cobblestones at the Plaza Mayor.

Social programme
Your language course in Cuba is not complete without a visit to one of the rum-museums and / or tobacco factories. For lovers of sports, you have the opportunity to go horse-riding, scuba diving and to cool off at one of the entrancing beaches, after having been held spellbound by the wonders of this country. The students come together every Thursday evening to discuss their plans for the weekend. One of the employees at the site will make sure that the excursion wishes of the students are fulfilled! Impression
After having received Spanish language lessons in Santiago de Cuba for 3 weeks, I travelled on to Trinidad and Havana. Cuba is a beautiful country with a long history, friendly people and of course the characteristic 50's American cars. I would love to go back.
