Barcelona Spanish courses in Barcelona. A cultural metropolis where old meets new

Barcelona is the second city of Spain after Madrid and is one of the most famous in the world. A city of culture, history and passion, it is as popular as ever. Situated in the north eastern corner of Spain in the Catalonia region, the city is positioned on the Mediterranean coast and has the ideal combination of beautiful beaches combined with a historic city centre, making it an ideal place to do a Spanish course in Spain. With approximately 1,600,000 inhabitants, Barcelona is a bustling city, but to many people this adds to its appeal. Furthermore, it is now a major centre for business and is starting to attract more and more residents each year. This bustling municipality is certainly 'the place to be' at the moment. The area has a Mediterranean climate with warm summers and mild winters. Snowfall during the winter months is very rare, as are temperatures exceeding 40 degrees during the summer. This ideal combination continues to attract thousands of tourists from all over the world. The mediterranean city is served by an international airport situated 3km from the city, making transport in and out of the city centre quick and efficient. The city is also served by an excellent public transport service, enabling its residents to get around the city quickly and effeciently. Driving within the city centre can become very frustrating! As Barcelona is undoubtedly one of the most riveting and trendy cities in all of Spain, it has a very strong culture that dates back almost 2000 years. Art features prominantly, with a long and established history. The works of some of Spain’s most famous artists are on display here, with Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró and the distinctive Gaudí creations being the most popular. Also, the very unique Ramblas in the old town district of Barrio Gótico, refreshing city parks, cosy bars, attractive squares and the lovely Mediterranean Sea with sandy beaches, are all very popular places of special interest. In short, there is always something new to experience each day in this metropolis. Catalan is mostly spoken in Catalonia, but everybody here also speaks Castilian, which is standard Spanish. Untainted Spanish is taught at our partner school in Barcelona.

Learn Spanish in the city centre
All Spanish language courses take place in the Enforex language school, which is located in a historic building in the city centre and is just a short walk from the Plaza de Cataluña square. Las Ramblas and the university are also within walking distance from the school. The school has the capacity for 550 students which makes socialising and forming new friends very easy. There are 50 classrooms all with special audio-visual equipment, a beautiful terrace where lessons often take place, an internet café with 20 computers, a well-stocked library, a study and a fitness centre. The facilities really are very good. Our partner school offers many different Spanish courses which enable students to specifically choose what they want to learn and at the correct level. This will enable the students to progress quickly. The accommodation is in the form of a host family, a shared apartment and student residence. Staying with a host family is a great way to improve your spanish and become immersed in the culture, whilst living with students is a really good way of meeting people and practice what has been learned at school. All three choices are equally popular with students.

Impression
I am completely crazy about the artworks of Gaudí and Barcelona was for me, the ideal city in which to learn Spanish. Barcelona is a most fascinating and trendy city with lots and lots of sights. I wasn’t able to see all of them, but after this unforgettable language course I am seriously considering relocating to Barcelona.
