The Palace Square, is dominated by the Alexander Column, which was erected after the Russian victory in the war with Napoleon’s France and is the tallest of its kind in the world with an impressive pedestal and base. St. Petersburg has a very broad selection of nightlife, with young and trendy nightclubs, to jazz cafés, to elegant restaurants.
