Learn Italian in San Giovanni
Learn Italian in San Giovanni, a small medieval Tuscan town of 17,000 inhabitants. It is safe, friendly and peaceful place close to Florence (40km.), Arezzo (30km), Siena (50km.), as well as Tuscany in general. The town is an excellent starting-point for excursions to small Chianti villages, old churches, castles, farms and other sights in the surrounding countryside. Here, it's easy to make friends with genuine Italians and living is cheaper than in other cities crowded with tourists. San Giovanni offers its guests a tranquil stay, far from big city chaos and smog - an excellent opportunity to "get away from it all". Not only is San Giovanni within easy reach of the best towns in Tuscany, but it is also immersed in a wonderful natural environment. You can hike in the mountains of Pratomagno, or cycle to places such as the small lake of Santa Barbara, or the picturesque hilltop village of Loro Ciuffenna. The Sette Ponti - the ancient "road of the seven bridges" - winds between the River Arno and the Pratomagno mountain, starting from the Etruscan town of Arezzo and ending almost in Firenze, symbol of the Renaissance. The route takes you through the typical Tuscan countryside regions of Casentino and Chianti, through small towns and villages such as Castelfranco di Sopra. San Giovanni is home to some lovely shops, where you can stroll around the markets and pick up some local bargains. Later on you can stop for a coffee in a cosy backstreet café or sample the delights of the local cuisine. San Giovanni really is an ideal study destination.
